    Smeet SDK

The Smeet SDK is designed from the ground up to offer affordable, state-of-the-art video conferencing technologies to developers, with an emphasis on ease of use.

Thanks to the Smeet SDK, you can focus on business logic and user interface: no need to understand video conferencing if it just works!

Salyens is a recognized leader in video conferencing over the Internet, pioneering H.263+, MPEG-4 and 3GPP capable VoIP clients, that an independent research lab described as

"superior in picture quality, while using less bandwidth than competing software from Microsoft© (Messenger 6.2) and RADVision© (eConf 5.3.1e)".

The Smeet SDK is the result of 6+ years of research and development:
leading edge audio and video codecs
    adjust settings automatically and on-the-fly
    echo and noise suppression
    work with Polycom, RADVision, Tandberg
     (see details here)
    Windows (95/2K/XP), Linux
    IPv6 ready
    MMX, SSE2 optimizations
    any picture size, even VGA!

For the developer, its main advantages are:

  • API in C/C++ and STL - all standard!
  • less than 10 callbacks and functions needed to carry out a complete video conferencing call
  • flexible, with 80+ functions organized around simple interfaces (e.g. Init, Call, Setup, Error)
  • protocol agnostic with the same API for SIP and H.323
  • internationalization
  • several GUI profiles: Windows (MFC and ATL), Linux (GTK2), wxWidgets, and SDL
  • sample applications for Windows and Linux

"This latest version of SmeetX has a very good audio, and even better than Skype !!!" is one of the first feedback that we received since the release on May 7th, 2005.
Note: Results may change according to the network configuration and other factors.

Please feel free to download the Smeet SDK Fact Sheet for further details.

With the Smeet SDK, you are sure to integrate video conferencing capabilities into your application within days instead of months!

    Smeet applications

The Smeet SDK opens a new paradigm in video conferencing applications by combining rapid customization and ease of use.

This is best exemplified by SmeetX, an application based on the Smeet SDK and Windows ATL profile, with a very small footprint (1.0 MByte).

This ActiveX control (also known as OCX, part of the Microsoft© COM technologies) is fully integrated into Microsoft© Internet Explorer, with support for standard Web technologies such as XML for you to make it look like your own within 1 day!

Among other Smeet SDK sample applications, SmeetGTK2 leverages the Linux operating system for license free, embedded solutions.

Smeet paves the way for SIP and H.323 compatible VoIP solutions that can be deployed into new markets, such as:

  • 3G (video capable) mobile and industrial applications
  • embedded hardware
  • video streaming (large/custom picture sizes)

Both applications interoperate with Microsoft© NetMeeting and equipment from all major manufacturers (e.g. Polycom, RADVision, Tandberg).

    Sjmf & Sopal plugins

Sjmf is the only existing solution for the Java Media Framework (JMF) aimed at video conferencing, with native codecs in Windows, Linux and Mac OSX (x86), and support for standard file formats.

This JMF plugin provides native H.263, H.263+, H.264, 3GPP, MPEG-2 and MPEG-4 codecs, that an independent research lab described as

"superior in picture quality, while using less bandwidth than competing software from Microsoft© (Messenger 6.2) and RADVision© (eConf 5.3.1e)".

Sopal offers to native C and C++ applications the same state-of-the-art, high-performing video codecs found previously in Sjmf.

Sjmf and Sopal are the result of 6+ years of research and development:
    leading edge video codecs
    adjust settings on-the-fly
    work with Polycom, RADVision, Tandberg
     (see details here)
    Windows (95/2K/XP), Linux
    MMX, SSE2 optimizations
    any picture size, even VGA!

Please feel free to download the Sjmf & Sopal Fact Sheet for further details.

Sjmf is being used with our customers' Java applications in the most demanding environments such as Healthcare and Security. It is fully compatible with the JMF plugin API, and thus can be integrated instantaneously into your JMF application!

While you can fine-tune Sjmf through a long list of controls in order to best meet your individual needs, sensible defaults for each codec make it almost unnecessary.

"I think everyone appreciates the changes that were done, particularly one of our prospective customers." is one of the numerous testimonies that we received.
